A business (also called a company, enterprise or firm) is a legally recognized organization designed to provide goods and/or services to consumers. Businesses are predominant in capitalist economies, most being privately owned and formed to earn profit that will increase the wealth of its owners and grow the business itself. The owners and operators of a business have as one of their main objectives the receipt or generation of a financial return in exchange for work and acceptance of risk. Notable exceptions include cooperative enterprises and state-owned enterprises. Businesses can also be formed not-for-profit or be state-owned. The etymology of "business" relates to the state of being busy either as an individual or society as a whole, doing commercially viable and profitable work. The term "business" has at least three usages, depending on the scope — the singular usage (above) to mean a particular company or corporation, the generalized usage to refer to a particular market sector, such as "the music business" and compound forms such as agribusiness, or the broadest meaning to include all activity by the community of suppliers of goods and services. However, the exact definition of business, like much else in the philosophy of business, is a matter of debate and complexity of meanings From Wikipedia under the

As a psych major I am well aware that my major is useless on its own so I am going to get some background in business by majoring in human resource management. My college also offers seven other business minors, accounting, business administration, economics, international business, management, management information systems, marketing, and personal financial planning. Which of these would be beneficial along with my HRM minor? Asked by SarahR - Sun Apr 19 16:29:57 2009 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments A. Hiii.. Hello, I am trying to find out how to build my business credit without being attached to my personal credit score. I would like to know if anybody has information regarding what credit cards are available to do this. I would love any free information or links to sites that can tell me how to build my business credit. Thanks!! Asked by Erick R - Sun Feb 17 21:13:19 2008 - - 7 Answers - 2 Comments A. People think once they screw up their own personal credit the next thing they can do is have a business and get credit that way but it doesn't work like that. Your personal social security number and credit rating are going to be used to extablish credit when you start out and even well beyond. Added Reality is as a beginning business you are NOT going to go out and secure credit using an unknown/ unestablished business name or identifying number! Q. I'm hoping to open a decorating service business where I rearrange people's furniture, and am wondering how service oriented businesses such as cleaning businesses, vacuuming businesses, and even home computer repair specialists operate. What do I need besides a business license? I've already got a lot of my business plan done. Asked by Bam! - Fri May 22 21:36:39 2009 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments A. you will need to get Bonded, get health insurance if you have employees , in case of injuries you also need insurance , you will need more than 1 vehicle and this will cost you a lot for car insurance gas, license plates and maintenance ,you need to register your business , look into Incorporating if you do it's a safer way to go but more expensive , in case things shouldn't work out if you will have debts they wont come after your assets like your home or car. You will need a place or office to operate your business from therefore rent and insurance ,plus utilities , advertising is a must to promote the business .
