A. 1) Because the economy prospers greatly with additional tourism. Tourists are known for spending a lot, just because they're in a new area! If you promote certain organizations and give more money to a state/country tourism agency, then more money is brought in. This money can be used for real important things, like education and medical improvements. A government should always be glad to help improve and donate money to a tourism area/office. Tourism is the main basis for a great economy. 2) The Caribbean, huh? Well it has beautiful, blue oceans that attract tourists from all over! People like to see the ocean at it's prettiest, and that is what the Caribbean offers! Also, due to beautiful seas, there is a high rate of snorkeling and… [cont.]

A. Is this homework? Sounds like it as you are asking for a summary. What do you think it means? What kind of comments is it making about the hotels and attractions in Mexico...positive or negative? Does it make Mexico sound like a good place to vacation or not? Does it sound like AAA recommends vacationing in Mexico? Are the hotels as nice there as in the U.S? Are there interesting attractions in Mexico? Answer those questions and you will have yor summary.

Would you take a cruise in Haiti this week?
Q. It's a debate that's been raging ever since Royal Caribbean resumed bringing vacationers to Haiti after last week's earthquake, which killed tens of thousands of people in and around the capital of Port-au-Prince. Royal Caribbean deposits the tourists on the picturesque peninsula of Labadee, which was unaffected by the disaster and where the company has spent millions of dollars on what it calls its own "private paradise." Blogs and message boards have been full of outrage and disgust at the idea of tourists frolicking in the sun while bodies pile up in Port-au-Prince and quake survivors struggle to stay alive. "Having a beach party while people are dead, dying and suffering minutes away hardly makes me want to cruise that particular… [cont.]

A. Personally I'd find it a deeply uncomfortable experience. I understand the need to keep the economy going, let's face it they need it now more than ever but I wouldn't be able to party on and enjoy my holiday while being aware of the huge scale of human misery going on in the same place. I'd rather forgo the holiday and spend my time there helping the relief effort and donating any money I would have spent to help the victims.
