They need to eat micro foods like cultures of daphnia, bloodworms, mosquito larva. If your using a sponge filter in the spawning tank, sometimes you can promote culture growth on the sponge that the fry can eat. They need a tank with a temp over 76F as well. If you havent already, please remove the female, she may eat the eggs otherwise. The male will take care of things untill the fry are free swimming, at which point you remove him too. Q. I plan on getting atleast a 5 gallon tank, probably with one male, and am unsure which plants will best filter the environment. I've heard of options such as bamboo and lilies, but I am concerned about plant overgrowth and proper environmental interaction. In addition, I am a frequent traveler and am interested in how to feed a betta while I'm gone. No, the plants are primarily for added filtration between cleanings, as I would like to avoid an electric filter.
